Our Family

You’re here for the puppies, right?
But, in case you’re interested-here’s more about us as well.
We are Arlen and Serena Hostetler. We live in a rural area in NE Ohio. Raising puppies is something we became interested in around the same time as we decided we were ready to raise children. We both loved dogs and wanted our children to grow up around animals. Serena was hoping for a way to still contribute to the family-income while becoming a stay-at-home-mom.
We’ve tried out a few different breeds along the way, but have found a sweet spot in Doodles! This social and intelligent breed is a blend of everything you could want in a family pet.
In our time learning more and more about breeding and raising healthy dogs, we’ve encountered so many issues that families (and breeders) face when it comes to matching puppies with forever-homes. Our goal is to offer a streamlined and safe process for all. We aim to raise healthy, happy, social puppies that will fulfill all of your family’s dreams for a loving pet.

Every puppy has spent plenty of time playing with the children and will have encountered other dogs. We do everything we can to ensure that your dog will develop an adaptive and people-oriented personality; which is natural of the breed in any case.
Our family currently homes three momma dogs, but we are planning to add more very soon and are beginning the search for guardian homes for our mommas-in-waiting. Contact us to apply! Guardian homes are given the opportunity to home a Goldendoodle or Golden Retreiver puppy who is still growing to mature reproductive age. From around the age of 2, we would begin raising litters with her. If all went well with her first, we would likely have another 5-6 litters sometime between the age of 2 and 5.
This plan is used by many breeders and is often called a foster or “Guardian Home” program. Basically-the breeding dog lives with their adoptive family and returns to us for breeding as needed. Females will return to us when in season, then again to deliver the puppies. The female stays with us for 7-10 days during her heat cycle, to be bred. Then, she returns to whelp (deliver) the puppies a week before they are due, staying with us until the puppies are weaned (about 8 weeks total). Guardian Homes must go through an approval process and agree to our terms using a simple contract . At the END of the Guardian Home Family contract, the mama belongs 100% to the Guardian Family.

In short, this is a way a family could obtain a beautiful family-dog for a small fraction of the cost. An initial deposit of $500 is required, but for each litter she whelps, your family will receive $250, making it possible to recoup your cost and more.
